Barabhaig is a very well appointed detached stone cottage which has a wonderful position on the shore of Camas Croise Bay on the Sleat peninsula in the south-eastern corner of Skye.
Just a 20 minute drive south of the Skye Bridge and 15 minutes drive north of Armadale where the car-ferry arrives from Mallaig and ‘The Road to the Isles’, this is a wonderfully peaceful spot.
The cottage stands right at the end of the single-track road which leads through the little village of Camuscross and from its garden (with furniture) there are spectacular views across the water to the mountains of mainland Scotland beyond. Look out too for the otters and seals which are frequent visitors to this shore!
The cottage itself is spacious and comfortable. The charming sitting room has an open fire, there is a well-equipped dining kitchen and a downstairs twin bedroom. Upstairs are double and twin bedrooms and a bathroom. The many windows make it a very bright cottage, to which it is a joy to return after a day on the shore, out on the water, or exploring this most romantic and beautiful island.
As the icing on the cake, so to speak, there is an award-winning restaurant and bar at the Hotel Eilean Iarmain at Isle Ornsay, about a mile along the coast, which also hosts regular evenings of traditional music in the bar.
